Back to Singapore

Past midnight already, meaning that I’ve been in Singapore for 24 hours now (and that this post will be a short one). Read about the journey to my home away from home in this post…

Wednesday morning was a time to say goodbye. Goodbye to the Braun children Janissa, Emily and Joshua, with whom we played a last game of blind cow. Goodbye to Hans-Peter, Eva and Andreas, who so hospitably opened their houses for us during our stay in Palangka Raya. Goodbye to Chris, Hewu, Erit and Igu, the indonesian students that I met again for the first time after 13 years… Then Garuda Airlines carried us safely to Jakarta. Six hours later we were airborne again, heading for Singapore, and arrived shortly after midnight.

Bye bye Kal-TengBye bye Kal-Teng

How to describe my thoughts after such a long journey? I think it’s a feeling of completeness, looking back over many new memories, and forward to a new year with the energy to face its challenges. Anna and I celebrated the end of our itinerary in the Starbucks coffee house in Soekarno-Hatta airport with a hot chocolate, brownie and tiramisu. It’s symbolic, I guess… the end of a sweet chapter and the beginning of a new one.

Now clothes are washed and stored already, but many things still lie around, waiting to be ordered, read, written down, dismissed or put into their correct place. Several blog entries are yet to come, as I’d like to share some of my diary notes from the last month with you. I kept some memories in a diary during the travel; many entries are not too private and might be worthy… so see you around!

Thanks also for all the comments, mails and encouragement that keep this blog running!
