Taman Negara

It’s nine o’clock at night, I’m sitting in a remote village in the Jungle of Malaysia (well, there is internet, so not that remote.) Still, I hear the cicadas, the legs feel a bit tired from the walk to Gua Telinga, my head is full of memories from the Orang Asli1, it’s a very good feeling.

Indeed Gua Telinga, or “Ear Cave”, was one of the highlights of our trip. It’s a rather narrow, about 40m long opening in the rocks. As we climbed in, dozens of bats suddenly flied around our heads. The floor was covered with their shit, so we got somewhat dirty, but that only increased the adventurous feeling as we squeezed between the rocks :-)

Tonight we’ll take the train to KL already… snif… It would have been nice to stay here longer. There’s really much to see, and if I ever come back, I’ll do a long trek deeper inside the forest. But for the moment, our journey continues to the south.

1 Yes, it’s indeed true. We met one on our way to the cave, and they do walk through the forest barefooted!
